Margate's restaurant scene punches well above its weight for a town this size. It's not trying to be London, it's doing its own thing, with a strong lean towards independent kitchens, locally sourced ingredients, and chefs who actually chose to be here. You'll find everything from serious, seasonal small plates to the kind of neighbourhood spot you'd eat at twice a week if you could. Oh yeah and Madonna keeps dropping by for our Italian.

The Old Town is the obvious starting point but don't skip indie loving Cliftonville and the streets behind the seafront. Everything on this list has been chosen because we'd genuinely send a friend there.
