Don’t Miss: Turner’s new Winter Wellness Festival

Turner is kicking off 2026 with something a little different. Welcome to a full month dedicated to slowing down, reconnecting and looking after ourselves during winter’s toughest stretch.

The gallery has announced a Winter Wellness programme running throughout February, featuring movement workshops, sensory sound sessions, family-friendly events, panels, Ayurvedic feasting and more.

Designed to nurture mental, emotional and physical wellbeing, the festival spans everything from gentle seated yoga to vibroacoustic therapy.

Many sessions take place inside Turner’s sea-facing Foyle Rooms, making the most of Margate’s shifting coastal light.

A Month Designed for Slowing Down

Turner’s Winter Wellness month is intentionally broad, offering everything from deep rest to playful movement. It’s also one of the most accessible festival programmes the gallery has delivered, with sessions for different ages, bodies and levels of mobility, and a mix of free and ticketed events.

If February is usually the moment you start counting down the days until spring, consider this your invitation to pause, stretch, breathe and recharge, all by the glorious sea in Margate.

Here are some of our favourite events coming up at the festival. There’s a range of paid and free events, plus lots of accessibility options.

Showcasing Margate’s Wellbeing Talent

What makes this Winter Wellness programme feel particularly special is that it’s shaped almost entirely by Margate-based practitioners, artists and healers.

Many of the facilitators are people who’ve quietly become anchors in the town’s wellbeing community such as yoga teachers creating inclusive spaces, movement artists exploring embodiment, sound practitioners experimenting with coastal resonance, and creatives blending traditional practices with contemporary ideas.

They’re people who have built their work here, shaped by the sea, the seasons and the unique character of Margate’s cultural scene. Across the month you’ll meet an incredible group of Margate practitioners:

  • David Willis — artist, Tai Chi and Qigong instructor

  • Jodey Simmonds — Ayurvedic practitioner and founder of Inner Farmacy

  • Ted Rogers — movement artist and embodied practice guide

  • Shai Space — sound practitioner and herbal healing facilitator

  • Sarah Hakewill — sea-connection practitioner exploring Blue Mind Theory

  • Anna Brook — women’s circle leader and founder of Shala Women

  • Lily Cleo Hewit — accessible-yoga teacher and founder of Cleopatra Yoga

Many of these facilitators run small studios, grassroots community sessions or independent practices here in town all year round. Turner ‘sWinter Wellness month gathers their work under one roof. It’s wellness shaped by Margate itself: creative, grounded, inclusive and full of heart.
