What's On at Margate Pride 2026

The day begins at 10am at Walpole Bay Lawns with Family Pride, featuring Storytime with Lennie, a Family Rave and Silly Olympics with Chris, community stalls, choirs and the first of the day's rally speakers.

At 1pm, the Margate Pride March sets off along the seafront heading to Dreamland.

The march is on foot, with no floats or vehicles except those needed for safety or accessibility, keeping things inclusive and environmentally considered.

March Blocs include community groups, local organisations, charities and individuals carrying their own messages of protest and solidarity.

From 2pm the celebrations continue at the Scenic Stage at Dreamland, with the annual Mx Margate pageant, more rally speakers, DJs and live performances. Community stalls and Margate Pride merchandise will be available throughout the park, and this year marks the third edition of Margate Youth Pride.

Attendance registration is requested to help with planning. Visit margatepride.org.uk to register and find full timings.

Margate Pride ART MAP 2026: A Month of LGBTQIA+ Arts and Culture

One of the things that makes Margate Pride distinct is its arts-led identity, and the Margate Pride Festival programme reflects that.

Running from 31 July through August, the festival brings an extraordinary breadth of events to venues across town.

Highlights include the huge annual Margate Pride Art Map, showcasing LGBTQIA+ artists in spaces all across Margate, such as artist Valerie Potter exhibiting at Projects Kavel Rafferty alongside community craft workshops. Keep an eye on the weekly Don’t Miss Margate newsletter for the latest listings in July.

The Open Call Gallery Commission returns with this year's brief calling for an LGBTQIA+ artist over 55.

Poet in Residence Kit Griffiths is creating a short film celebrating a decade of Margate Pride, premiering on Pride Day itself.

Pride Eve at Turner Contemporary this year features Queer Me & the Sea, bringing local community members together to explore their connections with the coastline.

The Queer Ecologies project continues with workshops and volunteering in a new community garden space.

And at ARK, there will be a screening of Out Laws, a documentary celebrating resistance and queer rights activism against Namibia's criminalisation of same-sex love.

The Heritage Hotline project runs throughout the festival and beyond, an intergenerational archive and research initiative developed in partnership with Margate Radio, Bishopsgate Institute, Queer Heritage South and Margate Queer Library and Archive.

Outcomes will include a radio series, a zine and a lasting public archive of the region's queer heritage.

This year's official Margate Pride poster has been designed by longtime supporter Rachael House.
